Biography

Wesley Cohen received a bachelor's degree ( BA ) with honors in 1978, a master's degree ( MA ) in economics and a master's degree in philosophy ( M.Phil. ) in economics in 1978, and a doctorate ( Ph.D. ) in economics in 1981 at Yale University . In 1974-1975 he also studied at Cambridge University [1] .

He began his career as a researcher at the Institute of Economic and Social Research at the National University of Zaire as back as 1974, then worked as an economist in the energy department at the Energy Information Administration in 1979-1981, and was a visiting professor at Resources for the Future in 1980 [1] .

After university, he began teaching at the faculty of industrial organization at Harvard Business School in 1981-1982, then as an assistant professor of economics and social sciences at the department of social sciences and scientific solutions in 1982-1989, and as an associate professor of economics and social sciences in 1989 —1997, professor of economics and social sciences in 1997-2002 at Carnegie Mellon University [1] .

He is currently a professor of economics at Duke University since 2002 and at Duke Law School since 2005, director of the Department of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Fukua School of Business since 2005, and a fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1998 [1] .

He also taught at the School of Public Policy and Management. Heinz III in 1989-2002, was the chief editor of Research Policy in 1995-1999 [1] .

  • 2017 - faculty award from Bank of America ;
  • 2017 - Wiley Technology Innovation Management award as an outstanding scientist from the Academy of Management for research;
  • 2018 - Clarivate Citation Laureates [2] .
