Rosario Ferré ( Spanish: Rosario Ferré , September 28, 1938 , Ponce, Puerto Rico - February 18, 2016 ) is a Puerto Rican writer and poetess, journalist. She wrote in Spanish and English.

Biography
The daughter of a Puerto Rican politician, in 1969 - 1973 - Governor of Puerto Rico; after the death of her mother ( 1970 ) until 1972 she acted as first lady . Studied in the USA . Started publishing in Puerto Rico in 1970 . She taught at the University of Puerto Rico and US universities, is engaged in journalism. A specialist in Latin American literature, the author of monographs on the works of F. Hernandez ( 1986 ) and H. Cortazar ( 1990 ), has repeatedly written about Julia de Burgos .

Recognition
The novel “House on the Lagoon” has been translated into several languages, including Chinese. Rosario Ferre awarded the Frankfurt Book Fair Prize ( 1992 ) and other literary awards. She is an honorary doctor at Brown University .
