Peter Vladimirov studied at the Imperial Theater School in St. Petersburg, including with Mikhail Fokin . After graduation in 1911 he was accepted into the ballet troupe of the Mariinsky Theater , where he danced until 1919 . He danced in the ballets Bluebeard , Carnival , Talisman , Harlequinade , Paquita , Corsair , Giselle , Raymond . The first performer of the Eros part in the 1915 Fokine ballet of the same name . In other Fokin's ballets, he danced the parts of Harlequin (“ Carnival ”), Young Men (“ Chopeniana ”), Slave (“ Armida Pavilion ”), Ghost of a Rose (“ Ghost of a Rose ”), etc.

Vladimirov was one of Matilda Kshesinskaya 's favorite partners. They were connected by a short romance. In her memoirs, Kshesinskaya described their joint work as follows:

I began to dance especially well in recent years, when I started performing with Vladimirov. He was terribly addicted and inspired his partner. I performed with him in Swan Lake and danced with him like I did with no one. He admirably supported me in the adagio of the second picture of the first act, tossing and catching like a feather, so that the whole hall gasped with delight - this was new in those days. The Talisman has always been my successful ballet, and very winning. But since P. Vladimirov began to speak with me in it, this ballet won even more. When in the second act Vladimirov portrayed the genius of the wind and flew onto the stage, carrying me on his shoulder, this made a huge impression.

- Matilda Kshesinskaya “Memoirs”, p. 172 [2]

Akim Volynsky wrote about the style of a dancer:

Vladimirov understood what others could not understand before him. He intuitively recognized the disturbing beauty of the poses that had long stood still in the air. Raising his lady high, he held her in outstretched arms for several moments, during which he seemed to pour his own creative spirit into her, and she, obediently obeying him, was drawn out by a vibrating string.

- Akim Volynsky “Book of rejoicing: the alphabet of classical dance”, p. 213 [3]

In 1912 - 1914 he danced in the troupe of Diaghilev . After the revolution, Vladimirov wanted to leave Russia, but he did not succeed immediately. In 1920, together with his troupe colleague and future wife (they married in 1922) Felia Dubrovskaya, he emigrated to Europe and settled in Paris [4] . He performed several parts for Diaghilev's Russian ballet , including the role of Prince Desiree in The Sleeping Princess (London, 1921 ) and The Wedding of the Sleeping Beauty (Paris, 1922 ; Princess Aurora - Vera Trefilova ). For some time he performed with his wife in the troupe of Mikhail Mordkin . In 1928 - 1931 he worked in the troupe of Anna Pavlova and the last three years of the ballerina's life was her partner.

In 1934 , he left with his wife for the United States, where until almost the rest of his life (until 1967) he taught at the . Among his students were outstanding dancers: Vladimir Dokudovsky , David Lishin , John Taras , William Christensen , Tanakil Leclair , Maria Tolchif .

He died of a heart attack at the age of 77 years [5] .
