Sachatamia (lat.) - a genus of tailless amphibians from the family of glass frogs that live in the New World . The generic name is derived from the words of the Quechua language “sacha” - “forest” and “tamia” - “rain”, with reference to the habitat of representatives of this genus in tropical rainforests .

DescriptionThey are characterized by the presence of shoulder spurs in adult males of certain species and lobed liver , covered with a transparent peritoneum , green bones and a translucent digestive tract . Between the third and fourth fingers there is a moderate membrane.
ReproductionThese are oviparous amphibians. Females lay pigmented eggs on leaves or stones.
DistributionThe range covers Central America ( Honduras , Nicaragua , Costa Rica , Panama ) and the north of South America ( Colombia and northwestern Ecuador ) at altitudes below 1500 m above sea level .
