Warehouse ( German Packhaus , from German Pack - bale and German Haus - house [1] [2] , literally - warehouse [3] ) - a special type of closed storage room at railway stations , ports , airports or customs , intended for short-term storage of commercial goods [4] . The warehouse is equipped in such a way as to ensure quick and convenient production operations for loading and unloading goods. Often used to store valuable and damaged goods under the influence of atmospheric changes in cargo [5] . Military goods are stored in the chain stores.
At customs warehouses, goods were stored until customs duty was paid, at railway stations and ports, goods were stored until they were sent or issued to recipients [6] . Also, the premises of the warehouses were used to store lost baggage [7] .
Features
At railway stations, the floor level of the warehouse for the convenience of loading and unloading is located on the same level with the floor of the freight car , that is, at a height of 1.1 m from the rail head [8] .
