Life

Yolanda was named after her grandmother, Yolanda of Aragon .

In 1452, Yolanda married Amadeus IX of Savoy . In 1465, her husband became the Duke of Savoy, and Yolanda became the Duchess-Consort. Epilepsy and the resignation of her husband left Yolanda alone to confront the Savoy barons.

When Amadeus died in March 1472, Yolanda became regent of her little son Philibert and ruled Savoy on his behalf until her own death in 1478. Like her brother Carl , she was an ally of the Duke of Burgundy Charles against her own brother, King of France Louis XI . After the defeat of Burgundy at the Battle of Hranson in 1476, the Duke accused her of an alliance with Louis and imprisoned her. After her release, she reconciled with her brother and remained in good relations with him until her death.
