Iskandarov, Bahodur Iskandarovich

He was born on April 12, 1912 in the village of Sokhcharv in the Shugnan region, his parents came from a noble family of the Shugnan principality, lost his parents in his early childhood and remained with his brother Jonbobo to take care of his aunt in Porshnev. He began studying at the local village council school Porshnev with the famous scientist and theologian Saidkuddus Mansur. After he continued his studies at the Khorog boarding school and at the age of 14 he went to study in Tashkent, where he studied at teacher training courses. At the age of 16 he was sent to work as an instructor in the district of Baljuvansky district of Kulob district. (details in the book of B. I. Iskandarov. The Difficult Path to Knowledge. Publishing House of Moscow University. 1999-159 pp.) In 1933 he left for Leningrad to study at LIFLI. Member of the Great Patriotic War. He graduated from short-term courses of political instructors, Moscow (1941). In 1941-42 -politruk battalion of the 20th Cavalry. divisions - a participant in the battles near Moscow. In 1942-1944 - commissar of the battalion, deputy commissar of 1288 rifle regiment of the 113th page div. 33rd Army Captain.

He graduated from the Leningrad Institute of History, Philosophy, Literature and Linguistics (1936). D.Sc. (1959), prof. (1966). Academician (1973, special. - “History of the USSR”, Corresponding Member, 1966). The main directions of scientific activity: history, oriental studies, the history of Eastern Bukhara and the Pamirs and neighboring countries of the XIX-early XX centuries. Director of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Taj. SSR (1962-1988). Honorary Director of the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography. A. Donisha AN RT (1994-2004).

He was awarded the orders of the Red Star, World War 1 degree, the Red Banner of Labor, medals "For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.", "For valiant labor. In commemoration of the centenary of the birth of V. I. Lenin ”, Certificate of Merit of the Presidium of the Supreme Council Taj. SSR. Honored Science Worker Taj. SSR (1967). Laureate of the State. Prizes to them. Abouali ibn Sino (1974).

In 2012, by decision of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Institute of Humanities of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan was named after Academician Bakhodur Iskandarovich Iskandarov ^[1] .
