Details

On February 2, 2008, four shoppers, one of the saleswomen and a manager, were shot in a Lane Bryant store located in a large shopping center . All of them were killed, only a worker survived. Police received an emergency call about the massacre at 10:45. The police cordoned off the shopping center, but the cordon was later removed, as it became clear that the offender had left the building [2] .

Witnesses described the shooter as a black man with thick braids and bald patches, 173-175 centimeters tall and weighing more than 100 kilograms, dressed in all black. The investigation concluded that it all started with a robbery [3] , but something went wrong (maybe someone recognized him), and the criminal had to kill all the witnesses.

The identities of the dead were quickly established:

  • Connie R. Wolfolk (37 years old);
  • Sarah T. Saffransky (22 years old);
  • Carrie Hoodek Chiuso (33 years old);
  • Roda McFarland (42 years old), worked as a store manager;
  • Jennifer L. Bishop (34 years old).
  • The age and identity of the surviving victim is hidden by the police.

Consequences

The Lane Bryant leadership offered the relatives of the victims assistance in organizing the funeral. Subsequently, this company will create a fund to commemorate the five dead women [4] .

The store where the massacre took place was empty for a long time, but in 2013 it was rented by the TJ Maxx network [5] .
