Adalbert Hare

Adalbert Seitz (1860, Mainz - 1938, Darmstadt ) - German entomologist- lepidopterologist.

At the dawn of his career, he studied butterflies in Brazil , then was director of the Frankfurt Zoo. The most famous is the multi-volume work Die Gross-Schmetterlinge der Erde , whose volumes dedicated to the butterflies of the world continued to be published until 1954, after the scientist’s death. Other lepidopterologists participated in the publication. Her goal was to describe all butterflies known to science, which turned out to be unrealistic.
