Varvara Gennadyevna Masyagina (Kazakh: Varvara Gennadyevna Masyagina; born on August 25, 1977 in Alma-Ata ) is a Kazakh judoka who performed in the light heavyweight category. [1] During her career, she took five medals, including two silver from the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, Thailand and the 2003 Asian Judo Championships in Jeju, South Korea, and then represented her nation, Kazakhstan, at the 2004 Summer Olympics of the year.
Varvara Gennadyevna Masyagina qualified as a member of the Kazakhstan national team in light heavyweight among women (78 kg) at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, taking third place and getting a place at the Asian Championships in Almaty. [2] [4] She lost her opening match to seventeen-year-old US judoka Nicole Kubes, who defeated the Ippons and quickly conquered her on the tatami with Harai Makikomi (hip wrap) in eight seconds.
