Raymond Jowal ( Dutch Raymond Joval ; born September 15, 1968 , The Hague ) is a Dutch boxer , middleweight. He played for the Netherlands boxing team in the early 1990s, bronze medalist at the World Cup, champion of the Dutch national championship, participant in the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona . In the period 1994-2008 he boxed on a professional level, owned the world title by the International Boxing Organization (IBO).

Biography
Raymond Yoval was born on September 15, 1968 in The Hague , the Netherlands . It has Jamaican and South African roots.
He trained in Amsterdam in the ABOV boxing gym.
Amateur career
He first made himself known in boxing in the 1990 season, becoming the silver medalist of the Dutch championship in the standings of the middle weight category. A year later, it was already the best, joined the Dutch national team, took part in a match meeting with the Polish team.
In 1992, he won the Copenhagen Cup in Denmark and thanks to this victory he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympic Games in Barcelona . At the Games, speaking in the category up to 75 kg, the first opponent in the tournament bracket successfully passed, while in the second battle, with a score of 14:22, he was defeated by Algerian Ahmed Dine .
After the Barcelona Olympics, Ioval for some time remained in the boxing team of the Netherlands and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1993, he performed at the European Championships in Bursa and the World Championships in Tampere , from where he brought the bronze dignity prize won in middle weight - at the semifinal stage he was stopped by the titled Cuban Ariel Hernandez [1] .
Professional career
In 1994, Yoval moved to the United States and began his career as a professional boxer, winning more than ten victories over the course of a year. Then he returned to Europe and in December 1995 won the champion title of Benelux in the middle weight category, which he defended once. In November 1996, he suffered the first defeat in his professional career, at a boxing evening in France he lost points to local boxer Erlan Betard (20-6-2).
Despite the loss, Yoval continued to actively enter the ring and in September 1998 became the holder of the title of Intercontinental Champion according to the International Boxing Organization (IBO).
In June 1999, he became the World Boxing Union (WBU) World Champion, but lost his title at the first defense.
In 2000, he won the IBO world title, owned it for four years, having managed to defend four times. He was deprived of the championship belt in 2004 after losing in one of the rating fights.
In March 2005, in the ring in the USA, he met with a fairly strong American boxer Fernando Vargas (24-2) - the confrontation between them lasted all the allotted 12 rounds, as a result, the judges unanimously gave the victory to Vargas.
In June 2006, Iowal regained the IBO world middleweight title, then successfully defended his champion belt by TKO over Australian Shannan Taylor (42-3-2).
He boxed for the last time on a professional level in July 2008, losing on points to American James McGirt (18-1). In total, he spent 42 fights in the pro ring, of which 37 won (including 16 ahead of schedule) and 5 lost.
Subsequently engaged in coaching, participated in the training of many Dutch professional boxers.
