Allotheus, Love

Love Allotey ( Eng. Love Allotey ; December 16, 1936 - April 1996 ) is a Ghanaian professional boxer who performed in the light, second semi-light and semi-light weight categories. Champion of Ghana (1959), Champion of the Commonwealth (1967) and contender for world titles in WBC and WBA .

Career

Love Allothei made his debut in the professional ring on November 1, 1956, defeating Floyd Robertson , but then lost 5 fights in a row (3 of them to Robertson). On June 6, 1959, in a fight against his compatriot, Joe Tette won the vacant Ghanaian featherweight title. On April 8, 1964, again (for the 5th time) he met Floyd Robertson in the fight for the champion title of the Commonwealth (British Empire) featherweight title, the fight ended in a Floyd victory on points.

On November 16, 1963, he attempted to win the second world bantamweight champion in the WBA and WBC versions that belonged to Gabriel Elorde . Allothei was disqualified in the 11th round and Elorde won. On October 7, 1967, in a fight with Danny Grant, he won the Commonwealth lightweight champion, but on July 27, 1968 lost the title to Percy Hales.

August 22, 1975 held his last professional fight, which ended in defeat on points. During his career, Allothei spent 66 fights, won in 41 matches (7 ahead of schedule), lost 21 matches (1 ahead of schedule) and brought 4 in a draw.
