Nozhai-Yurt district ( Chech. Nazhi-Yurtan Kost [3] ) is an administrative-territorial unit and municipality ( municipal district ) within the Chechen Republic of the Russian Federation .

The administrative center is the village of Nozhai-Yurt .
Geography
The municipal district is located in the eastern part of Chechnya, in the transition zone from the foothill to the mountainous. It borders in the east and south with Dagestan , in the north with the Gudermes region , in the west with the Vedeno and Kurchaloevsky districts . The area of the district is 628.93 km².
The climate is temperate, the average annual rainfall is about 500 mm.
History
Nozhai-Yurt district was formed from the former 2nd section of the Vedeno district by the Decree of the Chechen regional executive committee on March 30, 1923.
On September 14, 1925, the Nozhai-Yurt District was renamed Yassinsky; on October 3 of the same year, the Yassinsky District was renamed Sayasanovsky. March 8, 1926 Sayasanovsky district was again renamed Nozhai-Yurt district.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on March 7, 1944, when the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was abolished, the Nozhai-Yurt district was renamed Andalalsky and transferred to the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
On January 9, 1957, during the restoration of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , the Andalan region was returned to it. On April 10 of the same year, the Andalal district was renamed back to Nozhai-Yurt [4] .
