Sea bass [1] ( lat. Sebastiscus ) is a genus of marine ray- fin fish from the subfamily Sebastinae of the scorpion family. Representatives of the genus are common in the Pacific Ocean. Body length is from 25 to 37 cm [2] . Reminiscent of sea bass ( Sebastes ), but are usually smaller and colored differently. Viviparous fish with internal fertilization. These are bottom predatory fish waiting for prey in ambush.
