Geography
Located on the right bank of the Loktevka opposite the village of Krasnoznamenka , 6-7 km north of Kurya and 213 km south-west of Barnaul . Through the village flows the river Gryaznuha .
There is a bridge over Loktevka, 1.6 km to the west of it (on the other side of Krasnoznamenka) passes the road Pospelikha - Kurya (to Ust-Kamenogorsk ). There is also a local road to the north to the village of Krasnoznamensky .
History
Founded in 1923. In 1928, the settlement of Novo-Znamensky consisted of 43 farms, the main population being Russians. As part of the Krasnoznamensky Village Council of the Kuryinsk district of the Rubtsovsk district of the Siberian region [2] .
The active life of the village fell on the years of Soviet power. In 1926, 386 people lived in 60 households in the village of Novoznamenka; there was a primary school and a library.
In 1954, young people arrived in Altai to develop virgin lands, the village expanded, more than 200 people joined the ranks of the collective farm workers of the Krasnoznamensky state farm, in which the inhabitants of the village of Novoznamenka also worked. With the advent of perestroika at the beginning of the 21st century, the economy fell into decay, young people more actively leave the village for the city. In 2018, one street remained in the village - Novozmenmenskaya.

Radiation pollution
The territory of the settlement was exposed to radiation during the years of testing nuclear installations at the Semipalatinsk test site . According to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation “On the social protection of citizens exposed to radiation as a result of nuclear tests at the Semipalatinsk test site” on August 29, 1949 and August 7, 1962, villagers were recognized as exposed to radiation. All those who lived in this region in this period are given a certificate confirming the benefits of compensation and benefits provided for by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
