Fusicólla merismoídes(lat.) - a speciesof ascomycetes fungi belonging to the genus Fusicolla of the family Nectriaceae . Previously included in the genus Fusarium ( Fusarium ) as the Fusarium merismoid ( Fusarium merismoídes ).
Colonies on potato-dextrose agar (PDA) are extremely slow growing, slimy, yeast-like, with almost no aerial mycelium, in white, orange, raspberry tones, sometimes orange with a white edge.
When cultivated on clove leaf agar (CLA), macroconidia are formed in numerous sporodochia or pionnots, cylindrically sickle-shaped, elliptically curved, mainly with 3-4 septa (young macroconidia are often unicellular, septa develop gradually). The upper cell is rounded, the lower cell is blunt. Macroconidia with 3 septa 23-60 × 2.2-5 microns. Phialids are often polyphialides, club-shaped to irregularly cylindrical, 12-20 × 3-5 microns. Microconidia are absent. Chlamydospores can form during prolonged cultivation.
Ecology and Importance
The ubiquitous soil fungus, occasionally secreted from the fruits of cereals, from the truncation of trees.
