Description
Wingspan 105-120 mm. The species is similar to Manduca diffissa tropicalis , from which it can be separated by the genitals. On the underside of the hind wings are brownish-black stripes.
Biology
One generation a year. In Costa Rica, adult butterflies fly from mid-May to June. In Nicaragua - from July to August and in October. In Florida - in September.
Caterpillars feed on Cestrum glanduliferum , Cestrum racemosum , Solanum accrescens and Solanum hazenii ..
Range
It occurs in Panama , Central America (including Belize , Guatemala , Nicaragua and Costa Rica ) and Mexico, and to southern Arizona and Florida [1] .
