Jean-Pierre Granger ( fr. Jean-Pierre Granger ; March 11, 1779 , Paris - December 1, 1840 , Paris ) is a French neoclassical artist. Portraitist , historical painter, author of mythological canvases and paintings of the sacred plot.

Biography
The son of a glazier. At the age of six he became the drummer of the French Guard . Later he took drawing and engraving lessons. He studied in the painting studio of Jean-Baptiste Reno .
Four years later he became a pupil of Jacques-Louis David .
In 1800, he won the first Rome Prize for the historical film “ Antiochus sends his son to Scipio ”. His fellow student Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres , who won the second Rome Prize, accused Granger of having influenced the jury.
While in Rome, Granger executed the orders of Lucien Bonaparte , Napoleon's younger brother, creating sketches, sketches and paintings from the collection of the prince’s antiquities. He also began to paint the portrait of the wife of L. Bonaparte Alexandrina de Blesch , but, finding him unsuccessful, turned into a picture of an unknown court lady. This portrait (now in the Louvre ) gave him so much pleasure that he married a model Jeanne-Catherine Delegrell.
In 1812, Granger returned to Paris and, until his death, was exhibited annually at the Salon , was awarded medals in 1812, 1817 and 1820.
His daughter Eleonora Palmyra (1819–1874), a famous pianist, married the writer Paul Meris .
He was buried in Paris at the Pere Lachaise cemetery .
