Fernando of Portugal ( port. Fernando ; June 5, 1507 - November 7, 1534) - Portuguese infant , son of King of Portugal Manuel I and his wife Maria of Aragon .

Biography
Fernando was born in Abrantes on June 5, 1507. At birth, his father granted him the title of Duke of Guarda . He was also the lord of Alfayatish , Sabugal and Abrantes , as well as the mayor of Trancoso , Lamego and Marialva.
In 1530, he married Giomar Coutinho, the 5th Countess of Marialva and the 3rd Countess of Lola , a wealthy heiress of a Portuguese noble family. The marriage was arranged by the King of Portugal, Juan III , the older brother of Fernando. The couple settled in Abrantes, where their two children were born: daughter Louise (born in 1531) and son (born August 1, 1533), who died shortly after his birth.
Louise, his only surviving child, died in October 1534. Fernando himself died a month later, on November 7, 1534, in Abrantes. He was buried in the church of St. Dominic in Abrantes. His widow, Giomara Coutinho, died a month later, on December 9th.
