Children's Railway
On the initiative of the pioneer and the Komsomol of the city in the Central Park in the summer of 1952, construction of the children's railway began. It was called the Small Turksib Railway and was opened on September 13 of that year. It became the second in Kazakhstan after the Malaya Tselinnaya children's railway in Tselinograd . [one]
The railway was a ring track of 750 mm gauge 1.24 km long. One station named after Pavlik Morozov was built with a wooden platform and a passenger pavilion.
In 1958, a new road management building was built, and the second (double-track) station, Komsomolskaya, was built on the south side of the ring.
In 1991, the Pavlik Morozov station was reconstructed. The wooden platform is replaced by reinforced concrete.
In 1993, all means of communication of the children's railway were reconstructed, telephone communication was established between the department of the road, the stations of Pavlik Morozov and Komsomolskaya, the checkpoint on relocation. In the same year, the Pavlik Morozov station was renamed Dostyk, and Komsomolskaya was renamed to Zhastar (Molodezhnaya).
On January 13, 1997, at the direction of the Almaty Railway Administration, in connection with the difficult financial situation, the Children's Railway was transferred to Gorky Park. The park itself also did not have the means to maintain it.
July 20, 1997 the children's railway was closed. [2]
Rolling Park
In 1952, the rolling fleet consisted of two wooden cars and a type 63/65 steam locomotive.
In 1958, the rolling stock was completely updated. At the disposal of the children's railway came three metal mobile cars Pafawag and a locomotive of the TU2 type.
In 1985, Pafawag wagons were replaced by four domestic PV40 (PV51) wagons.
In 1986, the TU2-124 diesel locomotive was decommissioned and installed on a pedestal at the building of the railway administration. He was replaced by a new locomotive TU7A-2921. [2]
In 1997, the locomotive was looted, the cars were removed from the carts and used as trade pavilions. [3]
Attraction
In 1999, Gorky Park, together with the Children's Railway, became private property and Ak Bobek children's amusement park was organized on its territory. The railway was restored - the track and one of the stations were repaired, traffic resumed. [four]
The administration of the park purchased a diesel engine and a roof trolley for Italian passengers, Atlantic Pacific Train, 2-2-0, SBF VISA Group. Children completely stopped participating in the organization of trips on the children's railway. An artificial tunnel was built at Zhastar station, in which, when a train passes through it, an automatic, mechanized movement of frightening dolls to the music takes place. [five]
At the end of August 2001, the building of the station of the Dostyk station burned down. [2]
