Biography
Bulat was born in the Kumyk aul Sultan-Yangi-Yurt . Even in his youth, he made a hajj to Mecca and became a famous scientist and educator in Dagestan. This fact brought Bulat-Haji closer to the imams of Ghazi-Muhammad and Shamil [1] . He became a prominent statesman of the Imamat. According to the historian Yusup Dadaev, in the battle of Akhulgo he commanded a detachment of Kumyk Muhajirs (immigrants) from the plain. He was captured and was redeemed by Imam Shamil [2] .
In 1840, Auha was appointed naib, but was soon killed by three Chechens, bribed by the tsarist administration. One of the archival documents has the title “On awarding money to three Chechens who killed Bulat-Mirzu-Khadzhi, appointed by Shamil foreman to the Aukhovites” [3] . The killers were forced to flee Auh because of the anger of the local population.
