Hazardous Chemicals Control
Substances that can have a serious impact on human health and the environment are defined as substances of very high concern (SVHC) 1. These are mainly substances that cause cancer, mutations or are toxic, as well as substances that accumulate in the body or the environment. Other substances considered SVHC include endocrine disrupting chemicals. Companies manufacturing or importing products containing these substances in concentrations above 0.1% by weight are legally bound. They are obliged to inform users about the presence of hazardous substances and, therefore, how to use them safely. Consumers have the right to ask the seller if these hazardous substances are present in the products they buy.
