History

The old center of Alma-Ata gradually shifted to the west of the city. Since the 1930s, the construction of new government and residential quarters of the new capital of the Kazakh SSR was carried out. The residential area within the borders of the streets of Mira, Kirov, Karl Marx and the head ditch was intended for government workers, scientists, art and culture. For them, a residential complex was built, named for the location of houses - " Slanting houses ". Gradual development continued until the 70s. [one]

In 1941, the construction of the Abai Kazakh Opera and Ballet Theater was completed.

In 1969, the construction of the Lermontov Russian Drama Theater was completed.

In 1982, the Arasan recreation complex was built.

In 2006, Slanting Houses were demolished.

In 2014, the development of a project for the reconstruction of the central part of the city began. It was reported that all historical monuments will remain in their places. The project will include the reconstruction of old 3 and 4-story houses. Also in the center are dilapidated one-story houses that will be demolished. New ones will be built in their place, but they will not exceed 5 floors in height. [2]

In 2018, a global program began to improve the streets of the city, within the framework of which public spaces along the streets of Nazarbayev and Tulebaev will be reconstructed. [3]
