History

The city is located in the northwestern part of the department, in the highlands of Eastern Cordillera , east of the Suarez River , at a distance of approximately 54 kilometers northwest of the city of Tunha , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 1532 meters above sea ​​level [1] . The municipality of San José de Paré borders in the northeast with the territory of the municipality of Santana , in the east with the municipality of Chitaraque , in the southeast with the municipality of Togui , in the south with the municipality of Monique , in the northwest and west with the territory Department of Santander . The area of ​​the municipality is 74 km² [2] .
