San José de Pare ( Spanish: San José de Pare ) is a city and municipality in central Colombia , in the department of Boyaca . It is part of the province of Rickaurt .

History
The settlement, from which the city later grew, was founded in 1780.
Geographical position
The city is located in the northwestern part of the department, in the highlands of Eastern Cordillera , east of the Suarez River , at a distance of approximately 54 kilometers northwest of the city of Tunha , the administrative center of the department. The absolute height is 1532 meters above sea level [1] . The municipality of San José de Paré borders in the northeast with the territory of the municipality of Santana , in the east with the municipality of Chitaraque , in the southeast with the municipality of Togui , in the south with the municipality of Monique , in the northwest and west with the territory Department of Santander . The area of the municipality is 74 km² [2] .

According to the National Administrative Department of Statistics of Colombia, the total population of the city and municipality in 2015 was 5,221 people [3] . The dynamics of the population of the municipality by years:

According to the 2005 census, men made up 53.1% of the population of San José de Paré, women - 46.9%, respectively. Racially, whites and mestizos accounted for 99.9% of the city's population; Negroes , mulattoes and Raysals - 0.1% [4] . The literacy rate of the entire population was 82.8%.
Economics
41.4% of the total number of urban and municipal enterprises are trade enterprises, 31.1% are service enterprises, 27.1% are industrial enterprises, 0.4% are enterprises of other sectors of the economy [4] .
Transport
Through the city passes the national highway No. 45A ( Spanish: Ruta Nacional 45A ).
