The 155 mm 1998 gun ( Fin. 155 millimetrin kanuuna 1998 ) is a Finnish towed self-propelled gun of the 1998 model. It is the development of the 155-mm gun of the 1983 model ( 155 K 83 ) manufactured by Tampella and Wammas . The gun was adopted by the Finnish Defense Forces in the same year.

It has an auxiliary power unit with a capacity of 78 kW (105 hp), capable of moving the gun independently at a distance of up to 1.6 km. The gun is towed by an off-road truck. Preparation of guns for shooting takes several minutes. [1] [2]

Features
155 K 98 has a design close to the 122-mm cannon of the 1960 model ( 122 K 60 ) manufactured by Tampella and Vammas. Shutter - semi-automatic wedge. The gun has the ability to use a separate charger.
The gun has a 78-kilowatt (105 hp) Deutz air-cooled diesel engine. The engine can drive four wheels at 155 K 98. Speed on the highway reaches 15 km / h, on rough terrain a maximum of 7.5 km / h. The APU generates electricity for navigation equipment, communications and provide automatic control of the gun’s hydraulics.
Barrel length is 52 caliber. A single-chamber muzzle brake is installed on the barrel.
The range of a conventional high-explosive fragmentation shell is 28 km and up to 43 km active-reactive. The total weight is 14 580 kg. [one]
