Biography

Born March 30, 1939 in Baku. In 1962 he graduated from the State Art College named after Azim Azim-zade , where he studied with teachers K. Khanlarov and A. Abdulkhalyk. In 1972 he graduated from the Art Department of VGIK (workshop of M. A. Bogdanov, B. M. Nemensky, G. A. Myasnikov). Thesis on the novel by B. Semenov, T. Talatov, "A feat of a lifetime" is devoted to the theme of Baku wartime. Since 1972 - production designer of the Azerbaijanfilm film studio.

In addition to feature films, the creator of several dozen animated films, the director and co-author of the animated films Oda, Podkop, Torpag and others. Scenographer of numerous productions at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater (opera Natavan, Trubodur, ballets “Rast”, “Leili and Majnun”, “Love and Death” by P. Buhl-bul oglu, one-act ballet “Polovtsian Dances” from the opera “Prince Igor” by A. Borodin and others).

The artist of dozens of performances staged on the stages of the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater and the Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun ("Fedra", "Egyptian Nights", "Yusif and Zuleyka", "Anthony and Cleopatra", "Doors Knocking on "," Lone Willow Tree ", etc. ..).

Filmmaker and stage designer of theatrical performances included in the golden fund of Azerbaijani art. He is also an architect and interior designer.

A regular participant in exhibitions of paintings, graphics and miniatures.

The individuality of the artist’s style was manifested with particular force in the revival of the traditions of oriental miniature. He was able to give a new sound to classical Azerbaijani art, using its canons in a series of paintings, as well as cinema and stage design works, and to discover the beauty of miniatures to contemporaries.

Known as an illustrator of works of Azerbaijani and foreign literature.

Laureate of the National Azerbaijan Film Award “Qızıl Pəri” for 2015 in the nomination “Best film artist” (film “Ambassador of the Dawn”).
