He wrote off and supplemented the chronicle of Nestor Pechersky , the author of The Tale of Bygone Years, for the Grand Duke of Vladimir Dmitry Ivanovich . The manuscript was created in 1377. This is the oldest and most detailed dated Russian chronicle that has come down to us. It belonged to the Vladimir Mother of God-Nativity Monastery .
Then the manuscript fell into a private collection. In 1792, the “Russian Chronicler of the Monk Nestor of the Old Chapel on the Parchment” was bought by Count Musin-Pushkin (in his old historiography, for example, from N. M. Karamzin , the chronicle was called the Pushkin List or the Suzdal ). The latter gave it to Alexander I. In 1811, the emperor handed over the chronicle to the Imperial Public Library (now the Russian National Library ), where the manuscript remains to this day.
By the name of the monk Lawrence, the chronicle was called the Laurentian Chronicle , indicated as having written this book in colophon (judging by the registry - 1377).
