He began to learn to play the piano at the age of four, from the age of 10 he studied with Marguerite Long , then with Rosa Lezhur , Yves Nat and Nadi Boulanger . He was awarded prizes and diplomas at the piano competitions named after Casella in Naples (1952), Liszt in Budapest (1956), etc.
He was considered a specialist, first of all, on the work of Frederic Chopin , made a number of notes. He also performed other compositions of the romantic standard repertoire, from Robert Schuman to Sergey Rachmaninov , as well as French music ( Gabriel Foret , Claude Debussy , Maurice Ravel , etc.). In the 1960s became a popular character in socialite chronicles - in particular, due to the fact that he mounted a small piano in his car to rehearse while riding [4] .
In 1970, he founded the pianistic competition in Paris, giving him his name. Since 1980, the competition was held as an international one, and later returned to the national format. Among his laureates were, in particular, Alexander Taro and Igor Kamenz .
