History of concept and creation
In January 2018, the creator of the series Supergirl and executive producer Greg Berlanti spoke at the event about the absence of trans-minorities in the Universe of Arrows . “We don’t have an active trans character on the show [...], and therefore I still feel lagging behind every day on this issue,” said Berlanti. In May 2018, it was reported that an open casting was held for a transgender actress of any nationality at the age of 20 years, for the role of the character Nia Nal in the series Supergirl . The character was originally described as a "Confident Wunderkind Fashionista." Once a political speechwriter, Nia is the best addition to the Catco investigative journalism team. She brings playful wit and harsh humor, but under this playful chic, facade, there is a sincere young girl who has a lot to offer the world. By the type of Nia, there is something of a young version of Kat Grant. [3]
