Sports academy club (basketball club)

Sportacademclub is a Russian basketball club from Moscow that existed in 1994-1998.

The club appeared in Malakhovka under the RSAFK under the name SAB and became the assignee of the MGUL Mytishchi team.

In the 1994/95 season of the major league, in the first stage in group “B” the team took first place, in the second in group E1 - fifth, in the division “North” - third ^[1] . In the 1995/96 season, SAB took 13th place out of 27 teams in the Premier League ^[2] .

Since October 1996, SAB has been renamed to "Sportacadeclub" ^[3] . At the first stage of the 1996/97 season , Division A took second place in a group of four teams. In the second stage, in a group with 11 teams, he took second place with 25 wins and 15 losses, which allowed him to reach the Super League.

The head coach in the 1997/98 season , as before, was Nikolai Grishin , who had previously worked as the second coach at CSKA . The team’s consultant was Alexander Gomelsky . The Honorary President is Valery Kuzin , President of the RBF and Rector of the RSAFK. The budget is 750 thousand dollars. At the first stage, in the division “Zapad”, 8 victories were won with 14 defeats, the club took 9th place out of 12. At the second stage in group “B”, “Sportacademclub” took 4th place and lost to Avtodor in the 1/4 finals 82: 112 84: 105 ^[4] . In the tournament for 5-8 places, the club lost all three matches.

In the Super League 1998/1999, the team spent 10 matches that they lost, but due to financial problems, also withdrew from the Korac Cup and ceased to exist ^[5] .
