Vitaly Georgievich Zakharov (born December 18, 1967 , Ferghana , Uzbek SSR ) is a Belarusian fencer , European champion (2001), medalist of world championships (2002, 2003), participant of the Olympic Games (1996, 2000). Honored Master of Sports of Belarus (2003).

Biography
Vitaly Zakharov was born on December 18, 1967 in Ferghana. He grew up in Minsk , where at the age of 12 he began to engage in fencing with Alexander Goppe. Since 1999, he trained under the leadership of Anatoly Novikov. He chose fencing with swords as his specialization.
He achieved the most significant achievements in the early 2000s. In 2001, at the European Championships in Koblenz, he reached the final, where he defeated the titled Italian Paolo Milanoli and won the gold medal. Thanks to this success, he went down in history as the first Belarusian fencer who became the champion of Europe. In 2002 and 2003, he won bronze medals at world championships .
After the completion of his sports career, he took up coaching. He works as a modern pentathlon coach at the Republican Center for Olympic Training.
