History
Until 2015, the canton consisted of the communes of Away-sur-Séchèche , Bé , Visesh , Druj , La Hersch-de-Bretagne , La Celles-Gerschez , Moulins , Musé , Moutiers , Ranne , Shelene and Eansé .
As a result of the reform of 2015 [1], the composition of the canton was changed. It includes the communes of the abolished cantons of Argantre du Plessis and Retie .

Policy
In the presidential election of 2017, the inhabitants of the canton gave Francois Fillon 26.1% of the votes in the 1st round against 24.9% from Emmanuel Macron , 18.6% from Marine Le Pen and 15.0% from Jean-Luc Melenchon ; in the 2nd round, the canton was defeated by Macron, who received 71.3% of the vote. (2012 Round 1: Nicolas Sarkozy - 35.2%, Francois Hollande - 20.7%, Marine Le Pen - 15.6%; Round 2: Sarkozy - 59.8%).
