About the album

After their RADWIMPS Haruna Tour in September 2005, the group hastily recorded five songs, including the singles Futarigoto and Yuushinron [5] . These two songs required a lot of effort from the group [5] . "Futarigoto" was originally intended for Radwimps 3 , but was delayed due to the fact that the group could not decide how to finish the song [6] . The song “By My Side” from the single “ Setsuna Rensa ” was also part of those sessions [6] . Work on Radwimps 3 was completed in December 2005, but the group still had a lot of things that they wanted to try, which is why they immediately began work on the next album - Radwimps 4 [6] .

For their fourth album, the participants focused on the sound the band had. This is compared to the first albums, when they had a performance, but did not quite understand what it was [5] . However, the group did not have a specific concept with which they began to work on Radwimps 4 [6] . Vocalist Yojiro Noda noted that although Radwimps 3's lyrics were the main point of the album, their importance was more balanced with other aspects in Radwimps 4 [5] . When the group recorded the song “Bagoodbye”, they noted that there was something good in it, and then considered it the main stylistic feature of the album [5] . Radwimps 4 felt like a point in experimentation, where the group wanted to go from the first albums, in Radwimps 2 they felt this desire, and in Radwimps 3 they realized that they were closer to their goal [6] .

“Enren” was the first RADWIMPS song based on fictional events [5] . It was created by Noda after fans of the group continued to request a song on the subject of relationships at a distance [7] .

Many of the song titles in the album contain a pun . “05410- (n)” is a goroavase (spelling numbers and using their phonetic pronunciations) for the Japanese word “ okoshite ” ( Japanese я こ し し okoshite , wake someone up) . - (ん) in the title indicates that the number 10 should be pronounced as the English word “ ten ”, but without “n”. The name of the song “Masumaru” is written in the hiragana “masu” followed by the Japanese dot , in this case it is read as “ maru ” ( 丸 ару мару , circle) . The educated name “masumaru” is consonant with the Japanese pronunciation of the word “marshmallow” ( マ シ ュ マ ロ , marshmallow ) .

“Setsuna Rensa” and “Sanbyoushi” have several readings of the same words. The name “Setsuna Rensa” uses the word “rensa” ( Japanese 連鎖 Rensa ) , which means chain / connection, while “setsuna” has a double meaning - “setsunai” ( Japanese 切 な い い цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу э э э э una una una una una una una una una una una una Sets Sets Sets Sets Sets Sets Setsuna Rensa ) uses the word "rensa" ( 連鎖 連鎖 саэса ) , which means chain / connection, while "setsuna" has a double meaning - "setsunai" ( 切 な い цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу цу Setsunai , tormenting) and "setsuna" ( Jap. 刹那 Setsuna , moment) . “Sanbyoushi” ( Japanese 拍 拍子 sambyo: si ) is a Japanese word for 3/4 musical size , however, the name of the song in place of “san” uses another kanji - 傘, which means “umbrella”.

The album contains 14 tracks, eight of which are written entirely in Japanese, two mainly in Japanese with English phrases, one entirely in English and three mainly in English with Japanese stanzas .

Promotion and Release

The third Radwimps 3 album was released in February 2006 and for the remainder of the year, RADWIMPS toured and released three singles: Futarigoto in May, Yuushinron in July and Setsuna Rensa in November.

After the album was released, the videos “Iin Desu ka?” And “me me she” were released, directed by Daisuke Shimada [8] [9] .

A tour in support of an album called Harumaki ( 春 巻 き ) began in March and ended in April 2007 [10] . The tour was released on DVD under the name Namaharumaki ( 生 春 巻 き ) on July 11, 2007, and in the first week it won first place among sales of music DVDs and second among all [11] .
