Tylzha

Tylzha [1] ( German: Tilse ) is a river in the Kaliningrad region of Russia , 44 km long [2] . The catchment area is 207 km² [2] . From the river came the name of the city of Tilsit (modern Sovetsk) [3] .

Title

The Tylzha River (Tilze) is mentioned in the documents of the Teutonic Order . Lithuanians who immigrated to East Prussia in the 15th and 16th centuries named the Tilszele River. The modern name of the Tylzha River appeared in 1946, when East Prussia became part of the Soviet Union [3] .

Description

The source of Tylzhi is located 5 km from the Vishnevoe railway station [4] , which is located on the Sovetsk – Schilino – Kalushskoye – Chernyakhovsk – Kaliningrad route. The river flows into the Neman [1] [3] at an altitude of 3 meters above sea level [5] .

The course is fast. The average channel width is 1.5 meters. Tylzha flows through the settlements of Mikhailovka, Rudakovo, Iskra, Gudkovo, Rakitino and Vetrovo [4] [1] . On the banks of the river are groves and meadows. The most picturesque landscapes near the river are located in the vicinity of the settlements of Vetrovo and Rakitino [3] .

The main tributaries are Small Tylzha, Podlipovka, Small (all right-wing) [1] [6] [4] .
