Queen of the Frankish state - the wife of the Frankish kings. Since only men could be monarchs of francs according to tradition and law, there are no reigning queens of francs, although some women ruled as regents.

After the Treaty of Verdun
The Frankish kingdom was divided according to the Treaty of Verdun in 843. Lothar I was allowed to retain the title of emperor and the kingdom of Italy, and he received the newly created Middle Frankish kingdom (future Lorraine): central, stretching from Italy to the North Sea, including the western part of Australia, Frisia, Alsace, Burgundy, Provence and Lombardy. Charles II the Bald received Aquitaine, where he was confronted by Pipin II, the son of Pepin I, as well as the West-Frankish Kingdom (modern France), the land to the west of the possession of Lothar. Louis II of Germany received Bavaria and the East-Frankish Kingdom (modern Germany), the land east of the territory of Lothair.
Thus, Irmentruda of Orleans (the first wife of Charles II) became the queen of West Francia, Emma of Bavaria (the wife of Louis II) became the queen of Eastern Francia, and Irmengard of Tours (the wife of Lottery I) became the queen of Middle Francia. The title of Queen of the Franks persisted throughout the twelfth and thirteenth centuries.
