Biography
In 836, she married the powerful and influential Duke Friuli Eberhard , who was later canonized as a saint. They had several children, including King of Italy Berengar I , Margrave Friuli. Gisela was known for her piety and virtue, just like her namesake, Gisela (the sister of Charlemagne ), who devoted her life to the church.
Her dowry consisted of many rich domains, including Sizuena , which became one of the permanent residences in Eberhard. They founded a monastery there, which was not completed until their death. She devoted her life to children and their education.
At the end of her life, she was abbot of the monastery of San Salvatore.
