History
The settlement was formed in 1872 after a railway passed through these lands and a railway station was built here, around which the village began to grow. It was originally called "Santa Rosa", but then it was renamed in honor of the Uruguayan town of Itusayngo , near which in 1827 during the Argentine-Brazilian war a battle took place between the Argentine and Brazilian forces.
For a long time, these lands were part of the municipality of Moron . In the 1990s, it was decided to separate them into a separate municipality, which was formed in 1994; his powers were located in Itusingo.
