“ Free Thought ” ( eng. The Free Thought , from Ukrainian - “Free Thought”) is the first Ukrainian magazine in Australia . It began to appear on July 10, 1949 in Berry ( New South Wales ), since 1950 it has been published in Sydney . The founder, owner and editor (over 40 years) is a journalist, public figure Vladimir Shumsky (born 1922 ). Since 1990, he is the editor and director of Freedom Thought, his son Mark. It is published weekly, with the exception of a short period of time when, due to difficulties, it was published twice a month. In 1960, the circulation amounted to 2.5 thousand copies. Now - 1.5 thousand.
Since 1989, the magazine has been sent to Ukraine , where since 1994 there is its permanent representative. At different times, the magazine was attended by Evgeny Garan (b. 1926), Roman Dragan (1907-1998), I. Durbak, A. Zhukovsky , Y. Kuzhel, Yaroslav Maslyak, Evgeny-Yuliy Pelensky, Irina Pelenskaya, O. Pitlyar , Bogdan Podolyanko, O. Siversky, M. Strokan, V. Stupnitsky and others.
