History
Pokrovsky Cathedral
The construction of the Intercession Cathedral was carried out in the years 1879-1882 according to the project of the city architect G. N. Serebrennikov. The building was destroyed by the Vernensky earthquake of 1887 .
The revived Pokrovsky Cathedral was built from 1888 to 1896 on Starokladbishchenskaya street of Verny . The architects of the cathedral were P. Gourde and N.P. Naranovich. This temple was demolished in 1934. [one]
At the place where the cathedral was previously located, there is now a Kazakh theater of young spectators named after Musrepova . [2]
Pokrovsky-All Saints Church
The church community was revived in 1946 on the outskirts of the city in a house of worship. New premises were gradually added to it.
The construction of the modern temple began in 1981 under the guise of reconstruction. A wooden five-domed church was built, but at the request of the authorities they were removed and one small one was installed. In 1990, a neighboring private house was acquired by the community and rebuilt into the Baptismal Church. Later it was connected to the old temple by a brick passage.
In 2010, the construction of a new large three-story Sunday School building and library was completed. [3]
New Cathedral Construction
On May 2, 2012, the site was consecrated for the construction of the church in honor of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the territory of the Intercession-All Saints Parish.
In 2013, stone was laid in the foundation of the church under construction and consecrated by Bishop Gennady of Kaskelen. [four]
