Shooting in Strasbourg - a murder on the street Orfevre, which occurred on December 11, 2018 in the city of Strasbourg , France . Five people were killed on the spot, seven were seriously injured and four were lightly injured [4] . The suspect, a 29-year-old man of Algerian descent who was previously known to the security services but was not considered an extremist, was wounded in a shootout with gendarmes, but managed to escape. After two days of search activities by the French police in the area where the shooter was hiding [5] , he was discovered and shot during an operation to neutralize and capture him [6] .

The shooting occurred at about 20:00 local time (19:00 UST), not far from Kleber Square, where the Christmas fair was held [7] . For ten minutes, a young man shouting “ Allahu akbar ” fired aimed shots at passers-by from a pistol [8] .
According to the State Secretary of the French Ministry of Internal Affairs, Laurent Nunez,

The suspect, a 29-year-old native of Strasbourg, was supposed to be detained on the morning of the same day for the murder, according to other sources for the robbery, but he was not at home [10] . According to the BFMTV channel, during a search of the house, police found grenades at the suspect [11] .
French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe activated an inter-ministerial crisis center [12] .
On the evening of December 13, according to information from the local edition of DNA [6] , the 29-year-old Sheriff Shekatt was liquidated on Lazaret Street in the Neudorf district. The offender was armed with a knife and a gun. Sheckatt was the first to attack the police and was killed by return fire. None of the police were injured. According to Reuters, a police helicopter circled the area. [6] Radio station France Info clarified that Shekatt was hiding in a warehouse all the time [6] .
Later, a statement by the Islamic State terrorist group that Sheriff Shekatt was allegedly a “soldier of the Islamic State ” appeared on one of the propaganda Islamist sites [6] .
