History

The first mention of the village Gardens refers to 1452. According to Lithuanian metrics , the village was located in the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and was presented to Prince Ivan Sangushkovich [3] . Since then, the village has acquired the status of a family estate, and the descendants of the prince began to wear the name Sadovsky.

In 1596, the royal nobleman Christof Andreevich Sadovsky founded here the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Christoph and St. Anne and transferred part of the land to the head of the church. The parish included the villages of Milkowice Ruskie (now Milkowice-Matzki) and Sinevica [4] [5] .

In 1865, after the Polish uprising, the church was abolished by order of the Russian governor Mikhail Muravyov . The last parish priest, Sylvester Petkovsky (1852–1865), handed over metric books to Drogichin [4] . In the 19th century, the village was located in Tsarist Russia, outside of the Kingdom of Poland; it was part of the Belsky district of the Grodno province [6] .

From 1975 to 1998 The village was part of the Belostok province .
