Gravel road (gravel) - a road ( car , tractor), covered with gravel .
Usually such a road has two lanes, the width of each of them is 3 meters. In Russia, gravel roads belong to category IV.
When designing such roads, the estimated speed is 80 kilometers per hour (60 on rough terrain, 40 in mountainous regions), but in reality, due to rapid wear and rare repairs, the speed of vehicles under normal conditions can drop to 40 kilometers per hour, and after a heavy rain, the road can become difficult.
Due to the peculiarities of the road surface, gravel roads are characterized by the release of gravel from under the wheels of a car.
Usually, gravel roads are built to small villages and villages where it is considered economically inexpedient to lay road slabs or asphalt due to the small number of residents and the vagueness of the prospects of the settlement.
Also gravel can be found on unfinished or repaired road sections.
