History

The party was formed on July 19, 2007 by four cantonal branches of the Green Party . Already in the October 2007 elections in the cantons of St. Gallen and Zurich, the party won 3 seats of the National Council , and a month later - one seat in the Council of Cantons . After that, the party expanded its representation to 13 cantons, mainly in the German-speaking region and in Romandia .

In the 2011 elections, the party received 5.4% of the vote [1] and increased its representation in parliament to 13 deputies. In the 2015 election, the party suffered some damage, receiving 4.6% of the vote and 7 deputy seats [2] .

The Green Liberal Party is centrist [3] in contrast to the left-oriented Green Party. Party ideology combines civil liberties and moderate economic liberalism with environmental sustainability [4] . The party has its own faction in parliament since 2011 [5] .

Currently, the party has 18 cantonal representations.
