Description
Small feeler beetles, body length about 3 mm, reddish-brown. The head is longer than its width. Fore tibia with wide triangular spur, middle trochanter with one spike. The coxae are simple, without thorns. Pronotum rounded at anterolateral angles with large metaventral protrusion. Apical segments IX – XI of antennae flagellum enlarged, apical segment of antennae curved. Eyes from about 25 facets. The second tarzomer is simple, linear, not enlarged. The median metaventral fossa is absent. The mandibular palps (at least some segments from group II – IV) are asymmetric, roundly widened or slightly protruding laterally. Head with frontal fossa. Eyes protruding. Antennae are attached at the front edge of the head; 3-segment antenna; scapus distinctly longer than pedicellum. The legs are thin and long; hips thickened. At the base of the elytra, two pits. The abdomen is short (its length is clearly less than the width) [1] [3] [2] .
Systematics
First described in 2012 by Chinese coleopterologists Zi-Wei Yin and Li-Zhen Li (Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai , China ). By its characteristics, it is closest to the species Pselaphodes erlangshanus and Pselaphodes zhongdianus [3] [2] .
