Story
This time, the itinerant peddler Tora-san is returning home to visit his sick Uncle Tatsuzo, but not for long. Immediately after his arrival, he comes into conflict with Umetharo, the boss of Hiroshi (Tora-san's son-in-law) and again leaves. He goes to a small town near Nagasaki , where he finds a “friend” Tomekiti, who sees in Tora-san as if his mentor. A rather fat Tomekiti, languishing with love, turns to Tora-san for advice on heart matters. Meanwhile, Thora-san stranded cannot pay the bill for overnight in a hotel room.
He is forced to return home again to Shibamata, one of Tokyo's poorest districts, only for his younger sister Sakura to help out with money to pay for the hotel. Sakura gives him money, but now he is forced to stay in order to work out a debt at their family candy store. He later falls in love with the spectacular actress Nanako, his sister’s old friend, and now she is a star, albeit an aging one, in the Shochiku Girls Opera Company (Shёtiku Kagekidan or SKD) [comm. 1] , a kind of Japanese The Rockettes (New York female dance group). The lover of Torajiro visited her show and was delighted with the subject of his love. He exclaims: “It was so magnificent that it made me cry!” Tomekichi, who visited him in Tokyo, was also hooked on this show, and they, together with Torajiro, now visit the theater every day. Tomekiti likewise falls in love with one of the artists.
