Chernoplekov, Nikolai Alekseevich

Nikolai Alekseevich Chernoplekov (03/06/1930, Moscow - 08/04/2008, ibid.) - Soviet and Russian scientist (nuclear physics), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (1991) [1] , twice winner of the USSR State Prize (1976, 1986) , Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation (2006).

Biography

He graduated from the Physics and Chemistry Department of the Moscow Institute of Chemical Technology (1953) [1] [2] and until 1960 he worked there and studied in graduate school . In 1956 he was seconded to LIPAN No. 2.

Since 1960, a researcher at the Institute of Atomic Energy (Kurchatov Institute) . In 1966 he defended his thesis. Since 1968, head of the department of solid state physics .

In 1975 he defended his doctoral dissertation, in 1983 he was awarded the academic title of professor in the Department of Physics and Technical Application of Superconductivity of the Moscow Engineering Physics Institute .

After the formation of the Institute of Superconductivity and Solid State Physics as part of the Kurchatov Institute Scientific Center, he became his first director, and since 2002 he has been honorary director and scientific adviser.

At MEPhI, he lectured on contemporary problems of superconductivity and solid state physics.

The main directions of scientific activity: experimental installations for studying elastic and inelastic neutron scattering, thermodynamic and kinetic properties of metals and alloys.

He died suddenly on August 4, 2008. He was buried in the Khovansky cemetery .

Rewards

  • USSR State Prize of 1976 - for the development and industrial production of new materials.
  • USSR State Prize of 1986 for methods of studying a solid body based on neutron scattering from stationary nuclear reactors.
