Babaev, Roman Yurievich

Roman Yurievich Babaev (born February 13, 1978 in Chelyabinsk ) is a Russian sports functionary, lawyer, and teacher. General Director of CSKA Football Club since 2007. Candidate of Law (2015).

Biography

Born February 13, 1978 in Chelyabinsk in an Armenian family. Father is an engineer, mother is a general practitioner [1] .

In 2000, Babaev graduated with honors from the Law Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University .

In 2014, he published the article “Features of the termination of an employment contract with a foreign worker in the field of physical education and sports” in the Bulletin of RUDN [2] .

In 2015, at the O. Kutafin Moscow State Law University, he defended his thesis on “Features of the legal regulation of the labor of foreign citizens in the field of physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation” [3] .

He teaches the discipline "Management in game sports" at the RMA business school [4] .

Married. He has two children: a son (born in 2010) and a daughter (born in 2016).

Career

In 1999, he began his career at the CSKA football club as a legal adviser. In 2001, he became the head of the legal department [5] .

In 2006 he was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the All-Russian Committee of Public Military and Labor Awards.

In 2007, by the decision of the Board of Shareholders, Babaev was appointed to the position of General Director of PFC CSKA , which he still holds [6] [7] [8] [9] .

While Babaev was in the position of Director General of FC CSKA, the club became the champion of Russia three times (2013, 2014, 2016), four times the winner of the Russian Cup (2008, 2009, 2011, 2013); won the Russian Super Cup five times (2007, 2009, 2013, 2014, 2018).

Member of the RFU Committee on the Status of Players [10] .

Since 2015, he has been a member of the UEFA Football Club Licensing Committee [11] [12] [13] .

Member of the Board of the Russian Premier League [14] .

He played an important role in organizing and supervising the construction of the VEB Arena football stadium [15] [16] [17] .
