George Crinu Raiku-Oltjanu ( room George Crinu Raicu-Olteanu ; born May 3, 1974 , Stefenesti ) is a Romanian boxer , representative of the lightest and lightest weight categories. Biography
George Oltianu was born on May 3, 1974 in the city of Stefanesti , Argeş County, Romania . He was trained at the Dacia Sports Club.
He first made himself known in boxing in the 1992 season, when he became the bronze medalist of the Romanian championship in the standings of the lightest weight category. A year later, at similar competitions, he won a silver medal, joined the Romanian national team and performed at the European Championships in Bursa .
In 1994 he rose to the lightest weight, was again second in the standings of the Romanian national championship, took bronze at the Felix Stamm Memorial in Warsaw.
In 1995, finally won the Romanian championship, in addition, received silver at the international tournament "Golden Belt" in Bucharest.
In 1996, he won the silver medal at the Strandja Memorial in Sofia, losing in the decisive final match to Bulgarian Alexander Hristov , and went to the European Championship in Vejle , where he was stopped by the same Christ in the quarter-finals. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Atlanta Summer Olympics - in the category of 54 kg the first two rivals in the tournament bracket successfully passed, while in the third quarterfinal battle with a score of 2:24 he was defeated by the Hungarian Istvan Kovac .
After the Atlanta Olympics, Oltianu remained in the Romanian boxing team and continued to take part in major international competitions. So, in 1997 he was the best at the Golden Belt home tournament, and in 1998 he won the international Tammer tournament in Tampere.
One of the most successful seasons in his sports career was the 1999 season, when he added a bronze medal to the Usti Grand Prix in the Czech Republic, a bronze medal for the Gee-Bee tournament in Helsinki, and another gold medal for the Gold Belt tournament. And the main achievement in his biography is a victory at the World Championships in Houston , where in the finals he took the upper hand over Russian Kamil Dzhamalutdinov .
Being among the leaders of the Romanian national team, I passed the selection for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney - here I again passed two light-weight opponents, but in the third quarterfinal fight I lost to the American Clarence Wilson with a score of 19:26. At the end of this Olympiad, he decided to end his sports career [1] .
