The 16th World Helicopter Championship took place from July 23 to July 29, 2018 in Lipki airfield in Minsk . In parallel with the World Cup was held the 4th stage of the World Cup Helicopter Racing. Also, as part of the World Championship at the Borovaya airfield, the annual festival of aviation sport “Pronebo” was held.

The World Championship was held by the Belarusian Aviation Sport Federation with the assistance of the Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Army, Aviation and Fleet of the Republic of Belarus (DOSAAF).
Competitions were held in four disciplines of the helicopter sport : navigation, parallel flight for accuracy, cargo delivery, slalom.
According to the results of the championship in the team event, the Russian national team won [1] .
General Information
World Helicopter Championships are held once every three years. According to the results of the participation of the Belarusian team in the 15th World Championships in August 2015 in Zielona Gur (Poland), it was decided to initiate the next competitions in Minsk. Belarus submitted an application to the International Aviation Federation to host the World Cup in spring 2016. The chairman of the FAI International Helicopter Commission, Jacques Berlot, attended competitions in Minsk, commending the level of their organization. In January 2017, Minsk was chosen to host the 2018 World Helicopter Championships.
An important stage in preparing for the competition was the test championship in Minsk. In July 2017, 27 crews from five countries competed for medals in seven disciplines.
The Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus prepared a special postmark and an artistic marked envelope , which were used to hold a special cancellation on July 9, 2018 , dedicated to the 16th World Helicopter Sport Championship [2] .
On July 24, 2018, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov [3] [4] took part in the opening ceremony of the World Cup. The famous TV host Leonid Yakubovich [5] also took part in the grand opening of the competition.
