Biography
Born in the family of the Greeks, John K. Kodros (1888-1943) and Irene Pantages (1894-1975). Archie's father immigrated to the United States from Greece .
In 1936 he graduated from high school in Alton. During his school years he played football, and during this period he received an offer to enter the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign , however he chose the University of Michigan , as his team was famous for its players as a center.
In 1937–1939, he played for the football team of the University of Michigan at the center. In 1939 he was the captain of the team.
In the years 1940-1941 he worked as an assistant coach of the University of Michigan football team.
During the Second World War he served in the US Air Force (USAAF, today - the US Air Force), took part in the landing in Italy (1943).
After the war, he worked as a coach at Whitman College (1948, 1949-1950), the University of Hawaii at Manoa (1951), and the University of Iowa (1952-1965).
He died on June 4, 1990, after a long cancer at the age of 72.
Personal life
From 1943 he was married to Effie Virginia Jowitt (1924-1991), in marriage with whom he had three sons and a daughter.
